Young Asian girl forced into bathroom while men ransack SF home

The homeowner’s horrifying day started when he discovered his car had been broken into at the cemetery while tidying up family members’ graves. Little did he know he would return to the home he has lived in for 28 years, to find thousands in currency and cameras stolen, all while his young cousin sat alone in fear.

What is written on the wall of this Portola district home is enough to break your heart– scrawled in pencil, the words, “help robbers”. This is the bathroom two men forced an 11-year-old girl into Friday as they ransacked her cousin’s home. The girl, who was home distance learning at the time, thought she was going to be kidnapped or killed. She also wrote her name on the wall, but we blurred that out for privacy.

The homeowner, who spoke to me in Chinese, doesn’t want to be identified. But we shared his story and these pictures to raise awareness in the neighborhood he has lived in for nearly 30 years. The man we’ll call Mr. K’s horrifying day began when he visited a cemetery in Colma then discovered his car had been broken into.

When he returned home, he found his home in shambles. Mr. K believes the crooks took the cases off these pillows to collect large amounts of foreign currency and cameras. While he has since repair the damage in his home, the frightening message remains– a reminder anyone can be a target of a heinous crime.
